Food is from the Earth and returns to it. The in-between time of what we put into our body is what in turn becomes our corporeality. This means that food is our first medicine. I was taught that in order to prepare food to maximize its benefit, it takes a mentality of serving the ingredients; of surrendering the ego. Food as medicine can be rustic or refined, simple or decadent. Most importantly, I believe our time with food is an expression of nurturing. Nurturing ourselves, our family, our community, and tangibly experiencing our interconnectedness. The value this adds to our lives is immeasurable.
